History of Dnipro Soccer Club:
"By 1951 interest in soccer in the Baltimore area had built to such a level that Ukrianians playing for other teams decided to organize their own Dnipro Soccer Club. The primary organizer of the Dnipro Soccer Club was Marion Wenger, who was also a player on the early teams...A roster of 12 players, most of whom had played soccer in Europe, was established and the team commenced to play in the Baltimore Unlimited Soccer League from 1952 to 1968. In the developmental years the team was always in contention for championships, often finishing in second or third place.
In 1957 Dnipro competed in the Arnold Cup Tournament in Washington D.C., and won the cup in competition among 25 teams from Maryland and the District of Columbia...[The team] was discontinued in the years 1958-61 in order to build for the future.
In 1968 Dnipro entered the Maryland Major Soccer League and displayed great progress in Baltimore's highest soccer league by finishing in the first division.
In 1970-71 the team won 12 games and lost none in the Maryland Major Soccer League ranking as the area champion of the Maryland-District of Columbia Soccer Association and also being the Baltimore-District of Columbia area national champions.
League championships by Dnipro followed in 1971-72 and 1972-73 and the succeeding three years evidenced in second place finishes."
